About this build
Acacia is a six bedroom, seven bathroom residence designed to hold a large family and a steady flow of guests without ever feeling crowded. The program stacks private space above shared space, then releases the top of the house to a roof deck with open sky in every direction.
A rooftop amenity on the coast raises real technical questions. Waterproofing assemblies, structural framing for deck loads, and the routing of mechanical equipment were all resolved in preconstruction with the architect and structural engineer, which kept the schedule intact once the roof was in play.
At grade, the pool and surrounding hardscape were sequenced early so that heavy equipment finished its work before the interior finishes arrived. That single scheduling decision protected months of careful craftsmanship.
