About this build
Taking a coastal home to the studs always reveals something. On this Solana Beach property, selective demolition was staged so that the structure could be assessed in phases and the budget adjusted before commitments were locked.
The addition was tied into the existing structure with new foundations and framing designed to bring the whole house up to current standards rather than leaving a seam between old and new.
Reorienting the plan toward the ocean drove nearly every decision, from window placement to the height of the new roof line. The finished four bedroom, three bathroom home reads as one cohesive residence, not a remodel with an addition attached.
